Question:
How much store credit could I get at Gamestop (or any other store) for this PS2 collection.?

I really want a PS3, however, I am a college student, so I really don't want to spend $400 on one. I have a fairly large PS2 collection that I want to sell for store credit.

I have a PS2 (the one that came right before the slimline) with a network adapter, two memory cards, three controllers, and the original box it came in. I also have around 35 PS2 games (no sports games though.)

I also have a broken PS2. It's not reading disks, so I'd guess it has to do with the laser. I think it's easily refurbishable. Would Gamestop take it?

I also have around 10-20 PS1 games, although I am not sure whether you would take PS1 games or not.

I also have 4 PC games, including Hitman 2 though Blood Money and Deus Ex 2. Again, I'm not sure if Gamestop takes PC games.

Would it be better to sell this to Gamestop, ebay or craigslist?

So if someone (preferably a Gamestop employee) could tell me how much store credit I could get for this, I would be extremely grateful.

You may have better luck selling it in your local classifieds, craigslist, or even online (ebay, amazon, half.com ect). I am at Gamestop all of the time and I was actually just speaking with a couple of the employees there the other day about a few games I have that are years old that I have seen them selling used for $40 still. I posed the question to them of how much they thought I would get if I brought them in and was told that it is better to just bring in what I'm interested in trading in because they cannot give an accurate estimate just by what you say you have as each day the value will change depending on what their need for what you have is. Maybe one day they have two or three copies ofa game you want to sell them so you will only get a couple dollars for it whereas the next day they could have no copies in and you could receive $10+ for it, it will vary.

if you go to a gamestop they are having this deal where if you trade in you ps2, a controller, and a memory card. they will give you 80 dollars store credit for a ps3. i literally did this like an hour 1/2 ago. i also traded in my psp with 7 games and 18 ps2 games. all together i got 235 dollars cash credit. a 40 gb is going for $400. it sounds like you have a big collection( and its good not to have sports games because the guy told me that they're not worth hardly anything because they have a new sports game every year. one of my football games got me 17 cents.) so by the time you get everything situated, you will probably pratically be given a ps3 i would believe. Gamestop is probably your best bet because of the deal they are having with the ps2 trade-in. and if you were to look up for a ps2 on ebay your not gonna get near that much. hope this helps

please call or visit your local GameStop. only they can tell you how much you would get. even us employees can't tell you here. not because we're not allowed, but because we don't have trade-in values memorized, AND the prices could change at anytime.

also, we do NOT buy or sell PS1 items so you will get nothing for those. we also do not take PC games. we will take a broken PS2, but you won't get as much as if it were in full working order. it does NOT matter if you have the PS2's box, so throw it away. you will only get credit (about $5 each) for ONLY 2 controllers. one controller MUST come with the PS2 as well as the power cable and A/V cable. with the PS2 games, again, they MUST be in full working order in order to get full trade-in credit. and their prices will vary. you could get anywhere from a few cents to $40 or even more for each one, it just depends on what the game is and the demand for it.
