I want to play PS2 games on my PS3 (80GB new version).
I put in a PS2 game (Sims urbz) and my playstation tells me i am unable to play PS2 games.

Is their a software that enables this playback feature for me to play PS2 and PS1 games? Thank you...

The 80GB version is not backward compatible. The big deal about getting the 60GB PS3 was due to backward compatibility with PS2 games.

Therefore, I think your out-of-luck regarding the play of PS2 games on your 80GB version, unless there is an emulator out there somewhere, but I don't think there is, because the PS3 has yet to be hacked, and Sony has not provided there own emulator.

No. Depending if it's the old 80gb model or the new 80gb. Only the old 80gb model accepts it. For the new one It is impossible to play PS2 or PS1 on it... And i don't think that there is a software for it...

But if u still have a PS2 don't bother wasting ur time on trying to play it's games on the PS3, there wont be that much of a difference, so my opinion keep on playing ur PS2 games on ur PS2...

The new 80GB PS3 doesnt have any PS2 compatibility.

If there is a software for that, then why would Sony make backwards compatible PS3s for extra $100? Softwares can be downloaded free. In short, there's no way.

im guessing the game you want to play cannot fully operate on the ps3, you should check this site for game compatibility.
