Do i need a memory card for playstation 2?

im getting a ps2 and i was wondering if i needed a memory card or if i can play without it. idk if you need to kno, but im getting it so i can play rock band.

You don't technically need to have a Memory Card to play any game on the PS2 but without it you won't ever be able to shut off the console or game without losing your progress, so in the case of Rock Band, you will lose all the songs you unlocked every time you shut off the game or console. My suggestion is get the memory card, they are not that expensive but you can still play without it.

i had the same problem with my playstation 1 memory card it did the same thing as yours did i just went and purchased new memory cards from ebay because that is the only place where you can get playstation 1 memory cards. if i were oyu i would purchase a new card because i tried deleting the bad or corrupt data and nothing worked. good luck i hope this helps

Yes, you will need a memory card to save your progress. You can play without it, but you'll have to start brand new each time. Any progress you've made will be lost.



I suggest using Sony's memory cards only. Third party ones just aren't reliable, especially the high capacity ones (over 8MB).

You don't need it, but you can't save your progress in games..which is very important. No matter how far you get in a game you would go back to the beginning without a memory card.
