I have an 80GB PS3 that I would like to "stream" content to (Videos, Pics, Music, etc...), and was wondering if it was possible to do such a thing without modding the console?

Yes you can use it as a media center and I have tried it and it works, but most of the apps will only do PC TO PS3 and not PS3 TO PC if you understand that logic. And I have searched for that app without any success. But I am using this FREE app called PS3 Media Server and I really enjoy it and strongly recommend it.

Streaming is super easy...

I do it every single day...

I have Java PS3 media server installed on a standard computer with Windows XP...

You just set your source folders of your movies and music... and then start up the PS3 Media Server.... then just start up your PS3 and browse to your Media Server under Video... should be your computers hostname...

You can also do it with Windows Media Player 10+ but... I had a bunch of trouble streaming from it, and Java PS3 Media server cleared all my problems up and can play any video type I have put in...

Good luck!

you'll desire a DHCP server to bypass media on your pi, if you're on debian wheezy you could look at udhcpd. having said that you would possibly want to get a wifi stash and connect your hdd to it and bypass videos on your google nexus and different wifi gadgets. this kind you could take your media everywhere and bypass because it has it really is own battery potential. regrettably the pi might want to require separate potential.

You can plug an usb external hard drive in to the PS3 and view videos, music, etc.
