Ps3 Black screen after system restore?

Question

I've tried the restart it and tried both with hdmi and the red/yellow/white cord but whenever I turn it on the ps3 says it has corrupted files. When I choose to restore, it restores properly. But after that bar reaches 100 percent the screen turns black. During the post restore black screen, I try to power the PS3 off, but it won't power off. What is the problem here? Do I have a dead hard drive?

when the system is turned off. press and hold the power button for about 30 secs. it should make 2 beeps, one in the first 5 secs and the other one at the end of the 30 secs.
