Only see 2 areas where you can plug in the chargers for the controllers on the ps3.

How many controllers can you use on a ps3?7 rite?

u have to buy the "Sony Dualshock 3 Sixaxis" controller then just switch on ur previous controller then plug the new controller using the mini usb cable and press the ps button then it will be paired with the ps3 and for the next time u will be using it just switch on the first controller first then the second controller with the ps button...and yes u can connect upto 7 controllers at a time...

I thought the official PS3 controllers were wireless. The SIXAXIS controllers are the ones you should get. You can use up to seven controllers at onces, but I have yet to see a game that uses seven controllers. Most games now use only the online and are starting to move away from split-screen, etc. You are right, you can use 7 controllers, but there are only two charging ports on the PS3, but you can also use USB ports on your computer to charge the controllers.

You can use up to 4 controllers. Official PS3 controllers aren't wireless, only 3rd party brands are. You can only plug in 4 wired controllers if you buy a compatible USB expansion thing.

you dont have to plug them in to play, you just plug it in to synch it with the ps3 system, then press the PS button ( middle button on controller ) to turn it on without the cord attached, then do the same to your second controller and it will turn on. wired controllers are just cheaper.
