I'm gonna buy it in about a week.I've been hearing and seen a lot of complaints with the 40gb (Freezing, Blu Ray dying out etc) on Youtube here in YA and other ps3 forums. Is the 40gb really a defective model? If you own a 40gb, have you had any problems with it since you purchased it? Because I don't want to buy it, then have to deal with having to return it to Sony and get someone else's refurbished PS3 with Wear&Tear if it ever breaks down.

I still have my PS1 and PS2 so i don't care about the Backwards Capability. Yes the 80gb is more bang for your buck but i doubt Target will ever have it in stock since it's so hard to find in store, so I'll make the jump for the 40gb now.

I bought a 40 GB version less than two weeks ago and so far no problems. I have a friend with a 40 GB that is a few months old and he isn't having any problems either...the downside is it doesn't come with a DualShock 3 controller but it does have Six Axis and is lighter than the D.S. 3. Regardless, it comes with a one year warranty so you are covered since if it is going to break (failure rate is under 1%) then it will likely do so within the first year.

As for the update, v 2.36 has not had any negative effects on my system and I can't say for sure that I know anyone around here that has any problems ..

The PS3's are very reliable systems. I've heard a few people on Yahoo Answers saying that there 40GB PS3's stopped reading discs and they had to send it to Sony. But since their 40GB PS3's were still under warranty Sony repaired them for free.

Either way the PS3's are very reliable and anyone that has ever had to send their PS3's in are the very unlucky ones because most people with 20GB, 40GB, 60GB, or 80GB PS3's will tell you that they haven't had a problem with their PS3's

I've had my 60GB PS3 for a year and a half and I've used it for MANY hours and I haven't had a single problem with my PS3.

80 gig could be relatively clever, given which you will choose the area in case you're gonna play a lot of video games, and downloading demos takes up a crap load of area. and because you have ps2 video games u might desire to get an 80 gig by way of fact it's going to have the means to play ps2 video games. 40 doesnt have the compatibility to play ps2 video games, and that's probably not sufficient space given which you pronounced which you will acquire demos and track. cuz one million demo can soak up some gigs of your hard disk area 80 gig is acceptable desirable for u by way of fact: one million. u can play ur ps2 video games 2. you will choose greater area with each of the demos youll be downloading 3. you will choose the greater area 4. once you purchase the 80 gig in the summertime, you will get metallic equipment sturdy : weapons of the patriots
