How long are load times on the PS3? Average...?

Question

Someone told me in a question 15 min ago that GT4 might take up to 1 min to load a race. What are the load times for the games you play?

(I think his source was from before the PS3 was released...)

It doesn't take 60 seconds the guy who said that doesn't know how the different elements of the machine work together to speed up load times. He was answering based on one of many technical aspects related to load times. And he obviously doesn't own the system. On most games especially multiplatform the load times are surprisingly faster than the 360. We own all three systems.



THe 360 doesn't allow you to clear your cache memory when switching from game to game so everything from previous games and online activity stays loaded in the cache until you restart the system which slows the system down substantially if you are doing different things on the system during a particular "on time".



If I want to switch between games on the ps3 I can manually clear the cache to increase load speed of games I play without turning the system off.



Ram is also important- the ps3 has independant ram it is not shared with the graphics memory... It works with a seperate graphics ram for the gpu which also decreases load time.



The 360 has shared ram ...meaning the graphics memory is borrowing ram from the primary ram.... Which slows the 360 down.

It really depends on the game, for a multi-platform game (a game which is also on other consoles) the loading time is about 30 seconds average, but with games which are exclusively for the PS3, it takes usually around 10-15 seconds (because the game can store a cashe on the hard drive). In newer games there will be no more load times, because with blu-ray, programmers some how can get rid of load times. Even on some multi platform games such as oblivion (which the developer actually takes time to port) load times are signifigantly faster on the ps3 due to mandatory HDD's and blu ray.

On my ps3 it takes about 30 seconds. Probably depends on the game and how well you take care of your ps3. for an accurate answer search the internet :)

all people in this international like xbox 360 . ps3 is lame its not cool . im a xbox gamer and that i like to play halo 3 its cool as ever . i dont a thank you to explaine yet ps2 sucks......

will let you know when i get mine next month, but i have x box 360 and load times are very short so i would recomend one of those instead..better games and graphics too
