The main reason I want one is because of its ability to play both DVDs and BR's

Is it as whisper silent and good as they claim on Amazon.com?

According to them, it works better than a normal Blu-Ray player

Please and Thank you

The PS3 is Silent as ever to me. I can barely hear it unless i press my ear against it. The really cool thing about the player is that if you don't finish a movie your watching and you turn off the PS3. The next time you boot up the movie, it will pick up where you left off. Plus, you're getting a REALLY good deal and cheap too because if you JUST buy a Blu-Ray Player individually, it already cost about $400 - $700. The PS3 is $400 - $500. The PS3 is already

1. Blu-Ray Player

2. DVD Player

3. 40-60 Gig Hard Drive

4. Bluetooth Technology.

5. Wireless Bluetooth Sixaxis or Dualshock Controller

6. Heat and Touch Sensitive Buttons.

7. It looks really cool.

8. Quality is HD and 1080p with HDMI.

9. Much, Much, more.

10. You can help Stanford calculate work units and help cure diseases with Folding@Home.

If you try to buy this all separate, it would be over $900.

First off the PS3 is a ******* big *** waste of money cause its soon to be replaced. who cares bout blu-ray an it may be free internet but shitty games for online gameplay the 360 has much better online games. the only reason i would ever tell some to get a ps3 was if they wanted MGS4 other then tht the XBox 360 is a wonderful system.Much better games an the only reason it breaks is if u let it over heat or u play too much but all u have to do is send it back to Microsoft an they replace it. Overall the 360 tops the ps3 in alot of ways. but i say wait for a little while to get a Console cause the Next XBox is set to come out Early 2010-Early 2011 they havent set a date yet.

Consider this: a Blu-Ray player will set you back about 400 bucks. A Ps3 will set you back about 400 bucks but....you get a Blu-Ray player that is also one of the best video gaming systems of all time. The thing is absolutely incredible. IT really is whisper quiet and it wont overheat on you(like some other video game systems).

Take my word for it......PS3 is the way to go!

I agree. The ps3 is alot of fun and i have really enjoyed the blu-ray dvd player.

There is really no sound at all. If so, its certainly not distacting.

I actually don't own a ps3 right now but i visit my friend quite

often who does. The only problem that i have ever had with his is it wouldn't read one of my dvds. But other than that..perfect if you can get by the price of it.

Its not necessarily silent, because it is a big hulk of a machine. I is a great bluray player though. I'd definitely say its the best player in the "sub $500" market.

The 40GB PS3 will cost you $399USD but the integrated bluray player follows the BD 2.0 specification. Thats the most recent meaning you can play a good portion of the disks if not all of them. Another excellent feature of the PS3 is firmware implementation. Its possible for Sony to add an updated bluray spec to their machine firmware for you to download. Insta-upgrade; your player doesnt go out of date as long as sony supports firmware updates. This is something you cant do with standalone players.

Oh, and did i mention it plays games? haha

Well, when i watch BR on my PS3, all i can hear is the movie. But honestly, there isn't much of a difference except for the gaming feature.

>>>

BR is made by Sony, so sony created the BR Player and also the PS3. So, there made by the same company.

>>>

Not much of a difference, but go for the PS3!!!

Sometimes i forget its even on its that quiet. And the picture is stunningly clear. Its also better than others because its update-able unlike other players.
