MVK video file question and PS3?

Question

I have a 1080p movie on my computer and I want to stream it to my PS3 but can't because it always lags. So i am going to convert the 1080p mvk file into mp4 which is compatible with the ps3 but when I do convert it will it downgrade the quality of the image?

If you convert it into an mp4 container but with the same resolution, bit-rate, etc, it should look almost exactly the same. It will probably be quite a bit bigger though lol.



But if your computer has a fairly powerful dual-core cpu, i recommend downloading Ps3 Media Server for free. Just turn it on, add the folder where your video is stored, restart the server, and hey presto, you can watch just about any video on your ps3. The media server will convert just about any file type (including .mkv) to an mp4 file that the ps3 can handle. In the settings menu of the server, you can change all of the video specs to whatever you like.
