What are the God of War games in order?

Question

I thought there were only three games (not including all the dinky mobile-psp games) which were in order like this:

God of war
God of war 2
God of war 3 ....

but after looking on Wikipedia there are about 7 God of War games!!!
how many of those are on the ps2/ps3 and which order do they go in? Because I was thinking about buying all the games and playing them, but only the ones for the PS2/PS3.

The Main Series is, yes, God of War 1, Than 2, Than 3.



The other one's would be PSP's Chains of Olympus, Which is a prequel to God of War 1.



The newest one on PSP is Ghost of Sparta, Which comes AFTER 1 but BEFORE 2.



Than their's God of War Betrayel on Mobile Phone, which is after Ghost of Sparta, but before 2 still.



Than their is the non-canon Soul Calibur Broken destiny, which is on PSP and Kratos is one of the charecters..



Than their is the God of War Collection, which is God of War 1 And God of War 2 remastered onto PS3, so its a PS3 game that has both God of War 1 And 2.



So i think that sums it up, after all, i own every single God of War, except Soul Calibur Broken Destiny. Anyway, here's the WHOLE series in order.



Chains of Olympus, God of War 1, Ghost of Sparta, Betrayal, God of War 2, God of War 3.

Just play 1, 2, 3 and then the collection. The PSP games don't really add much to the story (IMO) and are just fun to play on the handheld. BUT if you want chronological order then play this way: God of War: Chains of Olympus (PSP) God of War (PS2) God of War: Ghost of Sparta (PSP) God of War 2 (PS2) God of War 3 (PS3)

God of war, God of war 2 (1 and 2 PS2/ HD Collection on PS3) and God of war 3(PS3). There are 2 PSP games Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta.

it should be played in this order:

God of war: Chains of Olympus

God of war: Ascension

God of war: 1

God of war: ghost of Sparta

God of war: 2

God of war: 3

but playing chains of Olympus and ghost of Sparta takes away from the graphics, so, stick with the four best

(ascension, God of war-1,2,3 in that order) for best story line
