You get more for your money if you buy the PS3

-It functions as a Blu Ray player, allowing you to play HD movies.

-The PS3 has free and good online

-Wi fi built in

-Rechargeable controllers (the 360 uses AA batteries unless you buy the add on).

Please, the Xbox 360 has more games?

Check out the current library of PS3 games, and the games slated for release. Some awesome titles include: Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance, Uncharted Drake's Fortune, Ratchet and Clank Future, Warhawk and in the future, LittleBig Planet, inFamous, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, God of War 3, etc.

Plus a load of good PSN exclusive downloadable games like PixelJunk Monsters, PixelJunk Eden, Pain, Echochrome, and Super Stardust HD

Bottom Line: Get a PS3

And please stop asking this question, it gets asked at least 50 times a day

This question has been asked about a million times now...

GTA 4 was meant to be run exclusively on the ps3. It runs better on it. But it doesn't have DLC that the 360 has, which isn't even released yet. Promised, yet delayed by Rockstar.

The PS3 is a console ahead of its time. Devs are complaining that it's hard to develop on because of the Cell. It's not dev-friendly, unlike the xbox.

The PS3 has bluray. No big, right? As long as you're not a movie buff, and a gamer, it's ok, right? Wrong. DVD for Xbox360s have an experimental maximum capacity of 47GB, while Bluray discs have an experimental maximum capacity of 200gb. If you think that won't affect the quality of games, you are wrong. Just think of the possibilities. Better graphics, longer storyline, etc..

And that is one of the challenges of the ps3. It's all about possibilities right now. Sony has promised a lot through its system. And luckily, they're delivering. They started really slow and they were laughed at by everyone, saying they made the wrong decision. But now, things have changed in their favor.

The 360 is losing steam. What games do they look forward to? GeOW2? What else? Too Human? What else? Alan Wake? Hmm.... GeOW2 will be a great game. Yes, that is true. Too Human is getting varied reviews from different critics. It got a 6.8/10 on one, and a 93% on another. And not much is known about Alan Wake, either. There isn't even much proof that it'll be a great game. There's also Halo Wars, Viva Pinata: TIP, Fable 2, to mention a few.

The biggest problem with owning a 360 is that it's bound to RROD. The customer service is getting fast, yeah. But can that justify a consumer buying a broken product? Another is Xbox Live. It's a good service, yeah. But it isn't free.. $50/year. If you're gonna own your X360 for 5 years, that's $250. Take that into account when you're deciding. Xbox doesn't also have a wifi connection. So unless you like wires, you have to shell out another $100. That's $350 total. Consider this before you buy. I honestly think that in the long run, you're not paying for less, but more when you chose a X360. And for lesser features, too.

PS3 has more games for the future. GOW3, Kingdom Hearts 3, Little Big Planet, MAG (256 players online), Heavy Rain, FFXIII Versus (360 won't get this), L.A. Noire (developed by ROCKSTAR, company who's responsible for GTA4, Sony funded it, so rumors of it going to 360 don't have much weight), Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5, seriously. Can I stop now?

To show off ps3 graphics, check out the new screenshot for Heavy Rain. You. Will. Be. Blown. Away.

So yeah! Whatever choice you pick, make sure you're gonna be satisfied with it.

these are all great games or will be great games. ps3 is also more reliable, it doesn't have a 33% failure rate like its 360 counterpart. it can play music, movies(including blu-ray), pictures, tv shows, surf the web, etc.

many people say that xbox online is better. to some degree it is. so it has the extra bells and whistles, but the ps3 will be getting cool features the xbox has in future updates. and xbox online costs $50 a year. now that money could be spent else were, lets say on one of the games mentioned above. psn is still a great online service. and because its free there is no reason why it ain't bad. some things it does better than xbl such as more downloadable content such as demos, add ons, etc.

ps3 is more neat and organized than the xbox. the home screen is more navigatable and its set up user friendly.

besides, the xbox will be costing you a lot more than the ps3 in the long run. ps3 is $400 while the xbox is $300-$350. but you need to buy all these seperate attachments and stuff to even get it equal to the ps3. xbox is a money hungry machine.

now the games mentioned before are just a few of the many great titles coming to ps3. some more examples are gran turismo 5, jack and dexter, and kingdom hearts 3.

so i pick ps3, just because its overall great. it has a great online service and it is just an overall better machine. i'm no fanboy of any console, i'm just stating facts. and the facts point towards the ps3

Personally I think the PS3 is better than the Xbox 360. The PS3 has better graphics and more features than the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 might have more games, but that is only because it has been out for a year longer than the PS3. It also has the famous, Xbox live, but you have to pay for it. The PS3 has online play also, but it is free of charge. Lastly the PS3 has a built in Blu-Ray player. To watch DVD's on the Xbox 360, you have to buy a seperate dvd player. So basically I would go with the PS3, but it really depends on how much you want to spend and what system is best for you.

Get a PS3. Yes at the moment the 360 has more games but very soon the PS3 will be getting great exclusives like God of War 3, Resistance 2, Tekken 6, Gran Turismo 5, Socom and Time Crysis 4.

Also The ps3 has FREE online gaming and Blu-Ray.

Thats not enough something to debate about man You have to buy a PS3 . It is the best console out there I have both , a Xbox first and just recently bought a PS3 160GB and man there is such a vast difference in Graphics it's not even a Joke. Now You are right about the more games for Xbox comment but PS3 is just about getting started with it's games. At the end of the day what would You prefer Quality/Quantity? Well anyway hope you makle the right decision but My suggestion is sony all the way and You just cannot go wrong.

At this point, it really comes down to preference. Both systems are great, and have Pro's and Con's. For example, if you are an HDTV enthusiast, then it's a no brainer - the PS3 has the best Blu-ray player in the world. If you don't care about that, then you may want to go with the 360. I have both and there really is no difference in visual quality, but I prefer the PS3. It's much better designed and manufactured, but the 360 has some great features through "Live".

i have both. THIS IS THE ANSWER!!!! If u want good online and games get the 360 if u want blu ray ( GREAT BUY) and u are an OCCASIONAL gamer go ahead and get the ps3. DONT get one because u like one game. Look at all of the games. I only have used my ps3 5 times and my360 100000000000 times. Bottom line= games-360 blu ray and occasional gamer- ps3 (i have a friend that has only played his ps3 once lolol no joke)

it depends on what you like, yes the 360 has more games, but the ps3 has more games that I actually play, I have both and play my ps3 way more, well until I bought madden 09 yesterday for my 360, also do you have a high def tv? if so I'd go with the ps3 just because it is also a blu ray dvd player...

That debate has been going on since the start and I'm going to end it now. Get the PS3, just about everything is better, the games, the internet, the games that will be coming out such as skate. 2, Madden, and games like that. Just choose the PS3.

psthree is greater beneficial than purely a gaming equipment, this is an entire entertainment journey! song, pictures, movies, Blu-ray video clips (unbeatable image!), and extreme definition gaming... what greater could you go with from a gaming equipment? to not point out the unfastened psnetwork on line gaming. The psstore is easy to navigate and consistently as much as date with the latest television episodes, video clips, video games, demos, etc. the mushy Sony controller does not experience too bloated like the xbox 360 controller. I truthfully have this equipment working for hours each night, no count if i'm enjoying on line gaming, observing a blu-ray extreme definition action picture, or listening to song. properly well worth the money!

Well, for me it's an easy one, but that's because I care about quality, reliability, controllers, cost and next-gen. PS3 for sure.

Quality - just for image quality and processing power, the 360 and PS3 are not really that similar, but also not that different.

Let me explain: Both are HD, Both allow you to play HD Discs, Playstation3 is roughly 20x more powerful for processing, Blu-Ray is almost double the capacity and the bitrate (allowable/processable information per second for picture) is 6.75 times that of DVD, whereas HD-DVD is only 4 times that of DVD. So - they are both good, but PS3/Blu-Ray are truly better in the sense of quality

Reliability - The current numbers indicate that less than 1% of PS3's are returned with problems, whereas 34% of XBOX360's are returned. (although, I have an ipod and understand why you would keep the same product even though it keeps failing.. I bought mine last August and have already had 4 replacements from apple, mine isn't ever in motion either - but that's another story). I personally wouldn't buy an XBOX 360 because of the lack of reliablitily - but if I had already played it lots and was hooked on it, I'm sure I would.

Controllers - I have never liked the XBOX controllers - actually hated them to be honest, and I have always loved the PS controllers - that's the way I think they should be made - but this is totally a personal choice and would be good to go and try both out -see what you like. If you are thinking "I could get used to that I guess.." that would likely be a clue to me that it's not worth it. - Side note - I have read that many find the XBOX controller the pinnacle of gaming, so it's a personal choice.

Cost - the big one. Xbox360 Elite and PS3 are the same price now. This changes things a bit. Sony has free online play whereas microsoft charges you per month, so if you plan on doing lots of it.. well, to me it isn't worth paying for. The sony comes with more stuff too - wifi, memory card reader, HD optical drive. I couldn't find info on the HDDVD drive for the Xbox - I thought it was 200.00 and didn't come with it, but I also thought that maybe the elite has it..?? if that's the case - good stuff, similar in feature for price (except the processing power)

Next-Gen - many people will disagree with me on this, but in my business, it would kill me to have 5 xbox360 instead of 5 PS3's running renders and animation. The PS3's are so much faster it's unbeliveable and unprintable. Both Blu-ray and PS3 I consider next-gen, Both HDDVD and Xbox 360 I consider last and a half gen - almost there, but not quite. Xbox does not run most of the games on HDDVD, so PS3 can have bigger games, Blu-ray does not have space and bitrate (quality) limitations like HD-DVD does and the Xbox is an inferior machine - BUT much better than anything before it. If you are happy with your XBOX - then more power to ya!

One more thing that I found interesting is that Blockbuster just announced that they will only be carrying Blu-Ray and not HD-DVD titles. (I could see this changing if the "format wars" become more decisive and HD is winning out)

I just don't see the point in spending the same amount plus extra for an external drive plus extra for online gaming for a greatly inferior machine. - but that's maybe just me.

Ps3 all the way. When you compare the PS3 and the XBOX 360, people are saying technically they are very similar. But look at it this way. Yes, PS3 is very lack-lustre in the software department right now, but think of all the great PS1 and PS2 games you have. Games from the original XBOX pale in comparison to these. One more thing. Ps3 has Blu-ray. People are saying "Well 360 has HDDVD add on". Right, but from my standpoint right now, HDDVD stands no chance against Blu-Ray. Blu-Ray has hands down MUCH more support than HDDVD does, and in the long term, Blu-ray will last. True, we may not need 50 GB now, but in the long term we may come to need it. ALSO, keep in mind that the HDDVD add on doesn't play games, it's for movie purposes. But PS3 games are all on Blu-ray, giving room for much more detail, and better game play. And people are also talking about XBOX 360's great games, but keep in mind that PS3 has it's own superior franchises. Halo 3 may be a good game, but it has become a target for many publishers to beat. If I will call your attention back to Killzone. It was once promised to be the Halo-killer. And it was a GREAT game (albeit a few glitches) but unfortunately came short of its halo-killing target. Fast forward to the present. E3, today. Killzone 2 and Halo 3 trailers both came out. And you know what? It seems that Killzone 2 will live up to its predecessor's claims and be the Halo-killer, because it is AMAZING. Graphics are superb, and if you haven't seen it yet i suggest you go and watch the trailer. There, I've said my piece. It's your choice but if you really want the better system go PS3. It may be a tad expensive, but considering the technology it packs in, it is quite worth the price tag, in fact it is a relative BARGAIN (the 100$ price cut doesn't hurt either). And great games are on their way.

PS3 is way better

- ps3 has a built-in blu-ray player (360 does not)

- ps3 has much more and better exclusives, most of them cant go to xbox 360 because it cant handle that many data(DVD- 8.5gb, blu-ray 50gb)

- because of the blu-ray's huge space, ps3 will have WAY better graphics than 360

- online is free for ps3 not like 360

- you can browse the internet on ps3, no such thing for xbox 360

- built in Wi-Fi ( not on 360)

- xbox 360: 33% hardware failure

ps3: .2% hardware failure(see the decimal? less than 1%!)

- ps3 has better back-comp except the 40gb

- xbox 360 already has been maxed out to its potential with gears of war. ps3 has not been maxed out yet- look at uncharted drakes fortune, better graphics than gears and its only 30% of ps3’s potential

- you can upgrade your harddrive without voiding warranties with any 2.5 HDD, which xbox cant because you have to buy a xbox HDD

(they actually have the step by step on how to upgrade it on playstation.com)

those are the ones that i know right off my mind but there are much more reason than this

Now I want you to do me a favor, list all the reasons why xbox is better than ps3. I PROMISE you that nobody will get at least 5 reasons

Just compare exclusives. Playstation has Resistance, Uncharted, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm, Haze, Gran Turismo 5, Rachet and Clank, Metal Gear 4 and many sports games.

Xbox has Halo ( 2 of 3 are also on PC), Gears of War(also on PC), Mass Effect(Also on PC, starting to see a trend?) and Fable. Bioshock, oh wait, nevermind, PS3 is getting it in the Fall. 3 of its 4 games claim to be exclusive, but can be easily downloaded illegally, and usually are. The other exclusives are pretty foregettable. Remember Earth Defense Force 2017? What about Project Sylpheed? Vampire Rain? I don't. If anyone tells you PS3 has no games, just show them this section of my answer and direct them to the nearest failboat

Prices as of today:

ps3- 80gb: $499 with MGS4 and a Dualshock 3

40gb: $399 with spiderman 3 blu-ray

xbox 360(premium)- $349

(elite)- $449

if you want the accessories that ps3 comes with, that would add up to over 700 dollars, so that means ps3 is cheaper

xbox 360 pricing to match ps3's features:

$349/$449- console

$50- XBL subscription(only for 1 YEAR) pay $50 every year

$100- wi-fi adaptor

$200- HD-DVD drive add-on

$20- rechargeable battery kit

all comes out to $720/$820- add $50 each year you subscribe for XBL

ps3 features:

$399/$499- console

spiderman 3 blu-ray movie/motorstorm

online- free

rechargeable battery- built in the controller

wi-fi built in

blu-ray player(better than HD-DVD) built in

all comes out to $399/$499, oh my,look at that, its the same price as before

PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, Was not even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements.

Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:

1). A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%. Despite some people say, that new 360 has no breakdown issues - just visit Xbox section of Yahoo answers and see for yourself an amount of complaints.

2). PS3 has 7 kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.

3). PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 25 (single layer) and dual layer 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 50$. Besides, HD-DVD had lost the format war with Blu-ray. Toshiba had stopped to manufacture them, Microsoft too.

4). Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second

Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second

5). PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in 4 slots card reader (except 20GB and 40GB versions), ability to use printer and so on.

Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.

6). PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers

Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers

7). PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)

Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $

8). From the first technical sight - graphics are stronger in 360 (it has a stronger graphics chip - Xenos), BUT PS3 can use it's Cell CPU for graphics too, which gives you better graphics in total. PS3 uses a weaker RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. RSX runs on 550 Mhz. It's difficult to compare their graphics, because 360 has a video chip with totally different structure and operating memory is divided differently in both consoles. Xbox isn't that versatile in dividing tasks between CPU and GPU as PS3. That's why PS3 exclusives look better than 360's exclusives.

9). Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 15 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

10). In 2008 PS3 will get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4, The Agent and other great exclusives. Here is the good link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......

11). PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.

12). There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.

13). The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console. Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 3 discs even for those).

14). On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.

15). PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.

16).Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. There is a cheaper 40GB version of PS3.

17).Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.

18). PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 also has the rumble controller (Dualshock 3)

19).On PS3 you can help sick people by running Folding Home project. Wii and Xbox 360 didn't even think about it.

20).40GB is 399$ or 399 euro (depends on the region) - it has no backwards compatibility with PS2 games, has 2 USBs instead of 4, no built-in card reader, but it's the same PS3, strong, reliable, less noisy, different cooling system. The price is friendly.
