Why is the PS3 failing??

It's not that Sony bombed with the PS3, it's that Nintendo unexpectedly soared.



The Wii is much better priced, and has a unique and intriguing style of play when compared to the PS3. I've upgraded from a PS2 to a Wii, and I wouldn't do anything different. I don't care all that much about the graphics - I'd rather have a game that was fun to play over a game that looked good any day - and I think that holds true with a lot of other gamers too.



Plus, the Wii can be played by 2 yr. olds - 90 yr. olds - a much larger demographic than the PS3 would draw.



Overall, I'm sure the PS3 is a nice system, but I don't think anyone expected the Wii to get so popular so fast. But because it did, in my opinion, the PS3 sales have not been strong. Plus it's freakin expensive!

The ps3 has sold more consoles in the first four months since release than xbox 360 did in it's first six months. Ps3 had 2 other competing systems at the time. Xbox 360 didn't have any competing systems at the time of release and ps3 still out sold it in the first six months. So How do you define fail.



GTA4 developers and other developers are having a hard time developing hd games with larger levels and maps on the xbox 360 dvd 8gig format. Where as the 50gig blueray format gives the developers a lot of room to create awesome games.



Blue ray is officially outselling hddvd. In fact some production companies have dropped the hddvd format for new movie releases.



Again how do you define failure.



You obviously haven't played one or you work for Microsoft.

The PS3 is failing because of its extremly high price. Of course there are games on the way that may easily change the PS3's fate (Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Ratchet and Clank, Singstar) All coming out later this year, Plus lets not forget the new Home interfierence of PS3 (which will feature a 3d virtual community, plus it will be free to download).



Lets not forget that for the future the PS3 has Devil May Cry 4, Final Fantasy XIII, White Knight Story, Killzone 2, Final Fantasy VS XIII, So with this lineup its highly unlikely that the PS3 is going to end up dieing but its also unlikely that it will sell as well as PS2 due to more competition this time around.

Sony is winning the format war as sony owns almost half the game studios and they also convinced lots companies to go with bluray disc for gaming. W8 till the games start to come in a month or 2. Ps3 might just make its name just like ps2.

sony had to do sumting because x360 came out then also the wii, this got them to rush about the ps3 and they still managed to make it the best console around.

It's high price tag kept alot of people away.



Many early adopters couldn't get their hands on one because Sony didn't anticipate early demand, and many profiteers scooped them up and sold them on eBay for thousands more.



Lack of a number of good titles.



Many people don't have HDTV with HDMI yet, which is what the PS3 is optimized for.



The Wii has clobbered it because it is simpler, cheaper, and more innovative.



DVD is still the dominant video format because everyone has a DVD player now, and people don't see a reason to upgrade, or replace their entire library.
