Playstation network error PSN DOWN ANSWERED HERE?

As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

Errors include:
* The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
* When the user tries to sign-in to the PlayStation Network, the following message appears on the screen; "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)".
* When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; "Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game."
* When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; "The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)"
* Users are not able to playback certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

As mentioned above, Please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused.

I have the 40gb "fatboy" PS3

I was planing to go on-line later

When I spotted a rant on another site

so i went hunting to see if it was true and found the same thing you did

As a matter of fact is an upgrade to security, for those of you playing Saturday at around 3:00 am maybe you experienced when someone hack into the network making weird things into MW2 like super jump,could kill with knife from far away,super speed etc... it lasted for about an hour.One of the players say something about posting a video on you tube.So be patient guys and gals most likely it will be up by peak time which is 8:00pm. BTW is not a virus there is a difference between a virus and breaching a system or computer ,in this particular case they breached into the network and used a script or modified part of the code that affect game play.Is either you know about the particular game code or you have way to much time to learn it.

First of all I am not hating, I will state the real facts. First of all this problem shows how unstable the playstation network and that's why it far beyond inferior then XBOX live. Playstation fanboys say its the same thing, but I utterly disagree, because its not I don't care if you guys say it's free and that we have to pay 50 dollars for it. Their is a reason why we pay, because microsoft offers the best entertainment. I have never experienced a problem with xbox live, I has repayed me with the fun and entertainment that it has to offer. I give to shits if you guys say that the ps3 has a BLUERAY player and that you guys can surf the network with your flash browser. Like I said I give TWO SHITS, what I want is a console that can offer a great online experience and some awesome games something that the playstaytion is still inferior in. I had a ps3 and it has some good game like Resistance 2, little big planet, drakes fortune, mgs guns of the patriot and a couple more...
