How can i get a live update for the ps3 through my pc?

Question

How can i get a live update for the ps3 through my pc? i have tried downloading an update to my flash drive and then transferring it to my ps3 but i need a live update as opposed to a normal update if that makes any sense?

Basically i have internet connection on my pc but not for my ps3 at the moment so if anyone has any better ideas please contact me

To update a PS3 From a usb you need to make the following folders

PS3 \ UPDATE \

Place the update in the update folder.

Plug the usb in and go update from media device. It should take a few seconds and they presto.

If you want to add so themes

If you want to add themes make the following folder

PS3 \ THEME \

Place the themes in the theme folder.

Plug the usb in and go theme load from media device. It should take a few seconds then apply it and they presto.

Go to http://uk.playstation.com/ps3/ to make sure you've got the latest update downloaded to your pc, put it on your flashdrive and try again, but.

if you're sure it's a live update it needs, you'll have to connect it to the net, either wirelessly or via an ethernet cable, you might have to relocate your gear so the cables can reach, once your hooked up, your ps3 will be ready for updating. it'll take AGES to download it tho, far quicker gettin the flashdrive method to work

Simply way of getting it updated is to go blockbuster rent one of the latest games and it will have the updates on there, or just borrow one off a mate! Put the disc in and it will update automatically. job done!

download the update int he hard drive and follow the carefull instructions on how to save it.

then install it on your ps3...
