I was asking myself this question, like the cpu usage will be 100% 24/7 wouldn't this shorten the life of the cpu ?

Folding at home maxes out the CPU usage of the PS3, so if you use it 24/7 it does shorten the life. However, leaving it on for a few hours a day won't (from what I've read in assorted articles) have any lasting noticeable effect on the CPU. If you want to play it really safe then don't get it, but folding at home is a revolutionary concept that's very important, and personally I run it whenever I can with no harm to my PS3.

Using anything in a very long period of time will shorten it's life. But a constant 24/7 is asking toooo much.

yea it may probally shorten its life by like a month so quite of 10 years you have it for 9 years and 11 months (sony builds thier structures to final 10 years) so dont get it and the nice and cozy air ultimately is going out after approximately 10 minutes so somewhat it doesnt rely if the cooler is like 10-20 $ then get it yet whilst any bigger dont get it
