well it really depends.... it looks like we have a lot in common when it comes to games.... i bought the ps3 because i love the action adventure genre of gaming and also i love japanese made games..... ratchet and clank is a good example of a great action adventure game coming out of the ps3...

xbox 360 has the upper hand on shooters (halo) sports games and western made games... i have a 360 elite too but ive had some problems with it.... had to send it back 3 times... not saying its a flimsy system... just warning you... there may be a chance... but it is a good system though... i just dont play it as much as my ps3....

i own both ratchet and clank and halo 3 they're great games... both must owns... my advice to you would be not to buy a console because of just one or two games.... you really have to know what you want in terms of gaming.... but if it were up to me id go for the ps3... it has a future... for example a lot of people got mad that the rumble feature was taken out... they recently fixed that problem by the 2.0 firmware update now there is as long as you have the dualshock 3... it just seems that all problems of the ps3 are so easily fixed....

We have halo 3 and Ratchet and clank. Halo 3 took an afternoon to beat it's only on an 8 gig dvd 360 game format disc. Ratchet and clank tools of destruction is over 26gig on a 50 gig blueray ps3 game format disc with virtually no load times. It took more than 20 hours and there is still more to do. It's graphics and sound effects are awesome throughout. Don't get me wrong Halo 3 was fun but for $60 I 'd expect a game that is worth the $60dollars offline as well as online. Basically halo 3 is a multiplayer online game.

The sound effects for halo 3 were seriously lacking and the maps seemed incomplete. If you like halo 3 then you'll love killzone (exclusive for the ps3) coming out soon. And Bungie the maker of the halo series has left their exclusive contract with Microsoft and is now developing games for other systems. Halo will always be owned by Microsoft but Bungie's creative team will be developing awesome games for the ps3 as well.

Since your friends have xbox 360, you should probably go for that. This way you can trade games and stuff like that.

But I think in maybe a year or so, the PS 3 will be the ultimate console. Xbox 360 is already at it's limit with graphics, plus the games are getting bigger. Many upcoming games won't fit on 1 xbox disk, like GTA 4, while PS 3 Blu Ray disks can store a lot more information.

Also, Halo 3 will be coming out for PC, many xbox 360 games will be as well. So if you have a new PC, you can just get those, and play them online for free.

And xbox 360 also has a high failure rate, significantly higher than PS 3's. So you could get into some problems with that.

So, in a year or so, maybe all of your friends will be buying PS 3's, so you could either get a head start, or if you can afford it, buy xbox 360 now, and PS 3 later. The Dualshock 3 controllers will come out then, so you can buy your PS 3 with an included Dualshock controller.

I personally bought a PS 3, while most of my friends have xbox 360. Fact that we can't share games is disappointing, but I didn't want to pay $400 now for xbox just to pay $400 more next year for PS 3. And some of my friends are already considering PS 3's.

While the PS3 has technical superiority and the added benefit of Blu-Ray, which will soon supplant DVD as the industry standard, XBOX 360 simply has the best and most diverse selection of games. Plus, you get popular franchises like Halo, Gears of War etc. For the younger or less intense gamers, the Wii is certainly a better choice, as the games tend to be designed around beginners, children or the elderly. Nevertheless, the Wii's outdated technology, childish control scheme and limited game selection make it a rather poor choice for any except the most casual gamers. Also, although it is the cheapest, it is by far the hardest to find.

Xbox 360 is my personal opionan, though some accessories may need to be bought to keep it well maintained (such as an Intercooler).

xbox games have a more choices in the games, and that too will include Halo 3.

PS3's are pretty much now sent to the side, or bench warmers that dont have really any good uses except the fact that you can brag that you have something that once costed 600 dollars.

If you have enough money to get the ps3 and other stuff with it 'cause its sooo much better than the x-box 360(my opinion)

I don't mind but if you want to play halo 3 get x-box 360

lol, almost exact same as me except for I'm not a Ratchet & Clank fan. I went with PS3, cuz online is free, built in wifi, better built console, blueray included, I mean the only pros to Xbox is better online (LIVE as opposed to PSN) and games, but since Ratchet & Clank is on PS3, ask yourself is online so important that your willing to sacrifice reliability, price...?

I used to be a big PS fan myself. Around when the PS2 came out, I wanted it so badly. Turns out I didn't get it for christmas, but next year I got the XBOX. It was incredible. I've been hooked to XBOX ever since. Now I have a 360, it is way worth it. The online multiplayer is insane, and I soon hope to see you play COD or Halo with me. Hope this helps.

for you i am telling you to stick to ps3 only b/c of your roots. and ratchet and clank does look amazing. but for never having played Halo i wouldnt go 360, it is amazing, but not liked by everybody. go ps3 for you. STICK TO YOUR ROOTS! unless oyu have 2 systems at the same time, in which case you need to spread out.

If you are going to buy Xbox, buy the ELITE 360 instead the orginal. Because the elite 360 it has HDMI & 120 GB? Think about it & it is black color,

You should have the Wii,you can actually get up and move rather than sit on the couch all the time and just press buttons.

I'd saw which ever is cheaper or has better games.

This is my cut and paste answer. The reason for that is because a tech info is a tech info, you can't beat it (sources below).

PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, isn't even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements. Xbox 360 is getting GTA IV, however, the game is going to be released on several DVDs - Xbox 360 owners will have to interrupt gaming process and switch discs (Rockstar complained about this issue). Only PS3 will have it on single BD-DVD.

Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:

A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%. Despite some people say, that new 360 has no breakdown issues - just visit Xbox section of Yahoo answers and see for yourself an amount of complaints.

PS3 has 8 (7+1) kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.

PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 180$, in this case Xbox is going to be MUCH more expensive, than PS3.

Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second

Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second

PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in 4 slots card reader (except 20GB and 40GB versions), ability to use printer and so on.

Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.

PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers

Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers

PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)

Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $

Graphics are stronger in PS3, due to RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. RSX runs on 550 Mhz. It's difficult to compare their graphics chips, because 360 has a video chip with totally different structure and operating memory is divided differently in both consoles. However, PS3 exclusives look better than 360's exclusives.

PS3 uses technology from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This thing is on sale for PC(special card). The price is around 350$. There is no such thing in 360.

Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 15 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).

When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.

In 2008 PS3 will get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4, The Agent and other great exclusives. Here is the good link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......

PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.

There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.

The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console. Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 3 discs even for those).

On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.

PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.

Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. There is a cheaper 40GB version of PS3.

Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.

PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 is getting rumble controller (Dualshock 3) in 1st quarter 2008, Japan gets it in this November.

On PS3 you can help sick people by running Folding Home project. Wii and Xbox 360 didn't even think about it.

New 40GB is 399$ or 399 euro (depends on the region) - it has no backwards compatibility with PS2 games, has 2 USBs instead of 4, no built-in card reader, but it's the same PS3, strong, reliable, less noisy, different cooling system. The price is friendly.

I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it. Leave it for kindergarten and casual games.
