You can buy another but as for any cable working that isnt entirely true. It depends what you are connecting it to. if you are connecting to another PS3 then you will need a cat5 crossover cable. If you are connecting it to a switch/router/hub then a cat5 crossover or patch cable will be fine as long as the switch/router/hub is auto switching capable
