I have the fat 80GB PS3 and one day I'm playing MW3 and my system crashes. I have never had any problems with my console, yet I don't want to have to buy another one. is there any way i can fix it at home?

You could watch some videos on Youtube of how to repair your PS3 but it takes a lot of effort and patience to fix it. Just search How to fix PS3 RLOD or YLOD on Youtube or search Fix ps3 on Google.
Another idea is go to PS-Pros.com website. They can repair your system, all you have to do is ship your console, they will fix it, and the shipping is free.
However it may cost somewhere around $100 plus the Shipping to have your console back.
Then lastly you could do a Google search to find some repair shop close to your neighborhood to have your console fixed.

If you have a red light, the console if off. Fixing a YLOD problem requires soldering, which you might not be prepared for.
