This question is so often!!! :-)

PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, isn't even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements. Xbox 360 is getting GTA IV, however, the game is going to be released on several DVDs - Xbox 360 owners will have to interrupt gaming process and switch discs (Rockstar complained about this issue). Only PS3 will have it on single BD-DVD.

Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:

1). A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%. Despite some people say, that new 360 has no breakdown issues - just visit Xbox section of Yahoo answers and see for yourself an amount of complaints.

2). PS3 has 7 kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.

3). PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 25 (single layer) and dual layer 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 50$. Besides, HD-DVD had lost the format war with Blu-ray. Toshiba had stopped to manufacture them, Microsoft too.

4). Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second

Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second

5). PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in 4 slots card reader (except 20GB and 40GB versions), ability to use printer and so on.

Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.

6). PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers

Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers

7). PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)

Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $

8). From the first technical sight - graphics are stronger in 360 (it has a stronger graphics chip - Xenos), BUT PS3 can use it's Cell CPU for graphics too, which gives you better graphics in total. PS3 uses a weaker RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. RSX runs on 550 Mhz. It's difficult to compare their graphics, because 360 has a video chip with totally different structure and operating memory is divided differently in both consoles. Xbox isn't that versatile in dividing tasks between CPU and GPU as PS3. That's why PS3 exclusives look better than 360's exclusives.

9). Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 15 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

10). Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).

When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.

11). In 2008 PS3 will get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4, The Agent and other great exclusives. Here is the good link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......

12). PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.

13). There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.

14). The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console. Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 3 discs even for those).

15). On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.

16). PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.

17).Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. There is a cheaper 40GB version of PS3.

18).Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.

19). PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 is getting rumble controller (Dualshock 3) on 15.04.2008, Japan already has it. On www.ebay.com I saw those controllers on sale 50$ and up (unofficial import).

20).On PS3 you can help sick people by running Folding Home project. Wii and Xbox 360 didn't even think about it.

21).New 40GB is 399$ or 399 euro (depends on the region) - it has no backwards compatibility with PS2 games, has 2 USBs instead of 4, no built-in card reader, but it's the same PS3, strong, reliable, less noisy, different cooling system. The price is friendly.

22). But, to be just, I'm not a PS3 fanboy, so (despite I own one) hear this - PS3 games (exclusives) are very hard to develop due to complicated Cell's architecture. We have to wait till developers will figure out how to develop games properly. Sometimes multiplatform games run not so good on PS3 due to the same developing issues - it's hard for developers to get a grip on such advanced technologies.

I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it. Leave it for kindergarten and casual games.

The query which you have basically asked has been asked such a great number of cases, you're transforming into saved your self 5 factors via staring at different questions and solutions of your same query. i desire to advise which you get the PS3. The PS3 has the suitable pictures and function. The failure cost of PS3's are under a million%, the Xbox 360 failure cost is 30%. With the PS3 you may actually play video games for days and the console wont over warmth as long because it has the suitable ventillation. The PS3 does have large on line gameplay, however the Xbox 360 for my section is greater of a multiplayer/on line game console. i do no longer play multiplayer video games or play on line so it somewhat is not any longer suitable to me. I certainly have a PS3 and it somewhat is for sure the suitable. in case you get a 360, you would be dropping money because of the fact the opportunities of it getting the purple Ring of dying is fantastically probable, the PS3 has WiFi and each little thing else geared up in. The PS3 is a console for game enthusiasts that desire to play all styles of video games from shooters, racers, action/adventure, RPG's and greater. The PS3 has a greater diverse unique game library. The Xbox 360 is a console that has maximum First individual shooters and shooters for it somewhat is unique video games. i'm a diverse gamer, i'm a Sony gamer, and the PS3 is the greater effective determination.

this isn't really a great question only because different people have different opinion.....like the guy mention online is suppose to be better on the 360 but that an opinion because some say it better because people can see what you have accomplished sony is working on that and more called home sure you heard of it if not check out the link below, anyways 360 fans depend highly on halo and gear of war, but ps3 got resistance warhawk and coming soon killzone2 all great fps game......360 has a bunch of first person shooter game if you think about it and they go strong highly because of going online without online 360 would die and with the new rule on cheating it not helping their customer....ps3 won the blue ray fight so now you got to wonder how xbox going to create game or game developers going to create a game not using blue ray on a 360? ps3 online is great i have no complaints and the online game play i love very much already build in wi-fi so no wire to connect online and wireless controller, sure those feature are offered on a 360 but for a extra price.....but i love sony i never cared for the controller on a 360 i did try the xbox and it just wasn't for me so i went with the ps3 instead of the 360...i got a xbox and a ps2.....and went to the better tech...hope i helped!!!!

Simple answer: Gamewise and currently, they both do the same thing.

Games playing on DVD disks will soon limit the 360's abilities in comparison to what can be accomplished on PS3.

PS3 currently has more value for your money now and is a much much better investment for the future until the next round of game systems come out, which will be a long time.

PS3!!

1).If you wanna play online PS3, Free online play unlike the Xbox 360!

2).If you want brilliant graphics, PS3!

3). If you want good game play, PS3!

4). If you want good value for your money, comes with a blu-ray player built in, PS3!!

5). If you don't want to keep returning it, overheating, then get a PS3!!

6). If you hate Microsoft, like i do, then PS3!!

The PS3 is currently the best system out and don't be swayed just because the 360 sells more systems. All you have to do is compare the specs of both systems and you can see that the xbox 360 will start having problems supporting next-gen games (such as the game being too big to fit on one regular dvd). Also the ps3 has some great upcoming features such as home and some incredible exclusive games that are only possible on the ps3 such as MGS4. I personally have considered all 3 systems and I decided that the ps3 was the best way to go.

BLU-RAY: Blu-ray is now the only HD disc for movies and games now that HD DVD dropped out. Blu-ray discs for the ps3 means HUGE games with unbelievable amount of detail and incredible clarity of the graphics because of the large amount of space that is available on a blu-ray disc. Also it's the cheapest blu-ray player available on the market for high def movies.

HOME: If you don't know what "Home" is then you are missing one of the main reasons to buy the ps3. HOME is a free community that will soon be available for the ps3 via a firmware update (one of the other great features of the ps3). You make an avatar of yourself, make a house, and then explore the community talking to people and playing free games against them or hooking up to play a game you have already such as MGS4 or any other online game. Here's a video that will show you how awesome it will be. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyquAXKeE...

FREE ONLINE: Although right now the PSN (Playstation Network) is not quite as good as Xbox Live it is very good and soon will surpass Xbox Live because of HOME. Also it is completely free and a wireless receiver is built in so all you need is a wireless router or you can choose a wired connection. Also you can download demos, buy games (such as PAIN which I love!!), or download themes for your ps3. Also via firmware update will be accomplishments which is basically the same as xbox's achievements except you will have a 3d trophy room with 3d trophies that you can literally walk around and show off to all your friends.

MEDIA CENTER: You can save movies, photos, and games on your ps3 and have plenty of memory to spare. With 40 or 80gb you don't have to be afraid of filling up your hard drive.

GREAT GAMES: Some Xbox fanboys will brag that xbox has a lot more games than the ps3. Overall this is untrue. The only two exclusives xbox really has is Halo 3 (which seems overrated to me) and Gears of War. PS3 has some incredible titles like Drake's uncharted fortune, Warhawk, Motorstorm, Resistance (Resistance 2 coming out soon) and lots of others. And overall multiplatform games look better on the ps3 because it has a lot more "horsepower" than xbox. Also this spring and summer is going to give PS3 owners something to look forward to with MGS4, Littlebigplanet, Haze and lots of others plus HOME and the in game XMB. I think this year will prove that the ps3 really is superior to xbox

Overall the ps3 has much more horsepower and potential than the xbox 360 and the wii. Also the playstation will be receiving incredible games in the future such as MGS4 which will be exclusive to the PS3 because of the disc space available on a blu-ray disc. The ps3 also is MUCH more reliable than the 360s 33% failure rate.

MAKE THE SMART CHOICE. Buy a ps3.

p.s. The xbox 360 was also an option for me but when I compared them I wanted the best console I could get and the one that will be better overall. The 360 came out a year before PS3 and got a head start with games but the PS3 is quickly catching up with awesome games coming. Oh yeah and online for the PS3 is just every bit as good and better than Xbox live because it's free and the soon (hopefully) release of Home.

I don't want to sound like a Micro$oft hater but the PS3, eventually is the better one on value.

I am pretty sure most people above have shown some points, but if you have gown up with X Box then go with the 360. I've grown with PS and I will never ever leave it.

Choose the right one for yourself.
