When Will PS3 start to use its full potential? and win over xbox?

I own all 3 consoles Wii, PS3 AND 360 and i just love the PS3, everything about it especially the controller, online and XMB
but i hate to see it loosing to Xbox 360, althought the 360 is good it just doesn't touch the ps3 to me, but when will it start to show that the 360 is outdated? and using the full 50gb on brd, the cell broadband engine etc. why cannot 360 fans boys admit that xbox is going to be beaten?

Yeah, to TooooL, I can see that PS3 is catching up by sales as this week 360 sold 90K as PS3 sold 60K.



Also, around 2 months ago, I noticed the 360 was beginning to have 10 million more sells than the PS3 and just there, I see that the 360 is selling 8 million more than the PS3.



So the PS3 is slowly but surely outselling the 360.

All Sony needs is a price cut.

The 360 probably will have a tough 2009. As you know one consoles loss is another consoles gain.



First things first, in the graphical department and games department this is the year when PS3 will overtake the 360. Gears 2... was probably the best a 360 could do and they have only a little scope of improvement. On the other hand, having played Killzone 2, I can say that PS3 has really nailed it this time. The graphics are phenomenal. Gears 2 in front of it looks as if it's a previous gen game!!! Also, God Of War 3 and Uncharted 2 are said to have even better graphics... so I think after 2009 we wont hear any 360 fanboy saying that graphics on the 360 are better.



Games wise too PS3 has an edge this year. 360 as far as my knowledge goes only has 2 AAA titles which are Halo:OSTD and Halo Wars. On the other hand, Ps3 has Killzone 2, God Of War 3, Infamous, GT5, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain... Along with it, it also has games like FF vs XIII, Twisted Metal, Quantum Theory,MAG... which will be released sometime in it's lifetime. Also, there are talks of Gears...3 becoming a multi platformer, so, if that would happen, 360 will lose it's second biggest franchise to PS3.



As far as the sales go, you might know that the PS3 is some 5-7 million consoles behind the 360 (it's considered a small number in gaming industry). This is mainly due to the fact that the 360 had a years head start over the PS3 but Ps3 is bridging the gap. With massive games coming out this year, the sales of PS3 are expected to be higher. KZ2 is coming out in 2-3 weeks time and considering the fact that 2 million copies have already been pre booked, it will help the console to sell more units. It been a known fact that when a AAA title appears on a console (like MGS4), the sales actually double for at least 2 months. So I expect Ps3 to outsell the 360 for at least 2 months since KZ2 will be released.

Also, massive franchises like God Of War 3 and GT5 will see many more consoles sold.



I think by 2010, Ps3 and the 360 will be on par. By that time, Wii would obviously win the console race, but I feel the true next gen war will also be over once the Ps3 and 360 are on Par. The Ps3 earns more net profit than the 360. Also, the 360's RROD has caused MS to lose Billions of Dollars. So in the end, only Sony might have the last laugh. As per sony, PS3 has a life span of around 8-10 years. So, that means a new sony console (PS4) will probably be released in 2012 (PS3 and Ps4 will co-exsist just like Ps2 and PS3). But, there are talks of MS launching a new console in 2010(end) or 2011. So, that means that Ms will be leaving the next gen war early and will be bracing for the future next gen wars. So eventually Ps3 will sell more units undoubtedly.

Killzone 2 is coming out at the end of this month. It is the only true next-gen shooter and it was only made possible by using the PS3's awesome superior power. This is just the beginning, but that means you won't have to wait very long for the definitive contrast between PS3 and all other consoles to show up. Many more great uniquely detailed games are coming up in 2009; Heavy Rain, Grand Turismo 5, Uncharted 2, etc. By the end of this year, the difference between the PS3 and the rest, will be very clearly made, and gamers of all age will find no more weak excuses not to own one.

I belive the PS3 will start to really shine in the next year or two. if sony would bring out a lower end model like Microsoft did, then they could sell more of them. Bring back the 40 gig and charge 299. hell, xobx sells one WITH OUT a harddrive.



As for the different architeture of the cpu, the PS3 is using a 8 core CPU with 7 programable. the xbox is using somthing less powerful. architecture style is not an excuse to try and save the xbox.. if that was the case then AMD would just say that their Phenom line is really just as good as the Core2 Quad from intel, but since its a different architecture its not fair to compare them. Look at the PS2, its the best selling console ever.. the PS3 just needs a lower price range and it will become the newest best selling console ever.

Sony overestimated people's needs for PS3s and put them in a lot of debt. They are doing better now, but it could be a while before they are back at the top. The PS3 is pretty much at its full potential, aside from not being backwards compatible anymore. Give the PS3 another year or two and it just might regain its crown as the Ultimate Game System

PS3 will never win over xbox sales because xbox has been in the market longer than PS3. Meaning, xbox is already selling a lot even before the PS3 was released.



We all know more people just can't afford the PS3 that's why more people settle with xbox, thus, xbox units sells more. But in terms of features and functionality... need I say more? Step back we have a winner!!!
