I been trying to connect my ps3 to the internet for along time and so far no results. I reconfigured & reset my router and it provided me with a wpa2 password that has 10 characters. The 10 character password worked great on my 2 pc's and 1 laptop but for some reason my ps3 is not taking the password. When i try entering the password, it times out and tells me that i prolly entered the password wrong plus the ps3 can only allow a maximum of 8 characters so i dont know what to do?.....please help!

p.s.
I have a Linksys Router WRT54G2-V1

Your internet router may not be compatible with your current ps3 system

My guess is that you have selected a different setting on ps3 then for the router. I hate when ppl tell me to double check things but make sure that you have the same setting on the router and ps3. I know that the normal WEP uses 10 digits or 26 digits, i don't know how many wpa2 uses. But that just my guess. Hope you find the solution. Good Luck :)

It doesn't matter how long the security key is, you can still type it in. It will only show up to 8 characters but when you type it in, just type in the whole password and press start and then press next.

I recently had my wifi encrypted and my password has 15 keys so I was worried when I only saw 8 but turns out it was fine. Good luck, hope I helped!

Kind of frustrating in my case... I just got my PS3, then I tried to connect to my wi-fi... and it finish up to the "Network Check" and its successful. Then it asked me to update my PS3 system... and so I did.

After finishing update the PS3 restarted... and then, I got the same problem as this post. It keeps saying I have inserted the wrong WPA key even thou I can connect just 10 minutes ago...

Sounds like you have a secured wireless service at home. You could call the company you got the router from and ask them for the pass code. When that failed, I reset my router before. Be careful before doing that. You may want to have your internet provider on the phone so they can walk you through after you reset it. It will then assign you a new code.

We have this issue with a new Uverse modem by Arris. It will not accept more than 8 characters and we actually have 12 in the password. We ve given up after 2 days of trying to figure it out. If any one has any ideas, we would appreciate it. Thanks
