PS4 features DDR5 memory as opposed to DDR3 on the Xbox One. This means faster computations on PS4 which means more throughput. This is significant since the PS3's biggest limitation was its non-unified memory. Also, more RAM will be available to developers on the PS4 than the Xbox One. PS3 owners who had Skyrim inventory problems, this should bring us delight.

Cloud Computing is irrelevant in PS4 and Xbox One games because it is highly unlikely that a developer will utilize external servers to compute in game calculations in real-time. "Cloud computing" is a buzz word for really "distributed server processing", which has been around for a long-long time. The "Cloud" just refers to the scaling ability.

Cloud Computing will be relevant in backwards compatibility. PS4 is planning to stream select PS3 titles. This allows old games to run in real-time on PS4 without having to emulate or actually put in the PS3 hardware into the PS4. This is why at launch PS3 was $600 dollars, all PS3s had an emotion engine (PS2) in them. If this works, Sony has created a near inexhaustible library of titles because PS2 and PSone games can be done this way. Microsoft does not have this, so its Cloud Computing is irrelevant (buzz words to trick the masses).

PS4 has more exclusives, better exclusives. If you have not played Uncharted 2, I suggest getting a copy. Xbox One has Halo, but Halo is no longer made by Bungie... so...

Xbox One is Samsung's Smart TV. Don't pay $500 for something that Sony did seven years ago (the PS3 only lacked motion control in the way of Kinect and the cable-guide thing, it had a web browser, streaming content, and online play). Buy the nice Samsung TV and get the nice PS4 for it, because if you don't use your PC as a cable box (remember Window's Media Ceneter?) then why would you do the same with your console? You will also still need a cable box, by the way. The Cable signals are encrypted using proprietary technologies and I doubt any cable company will part with that. And the encryption is not software, but hardware based, so will XBox one take cards to support this?

Xbox One is also a licensing nightmare. You buy the Xbox One disc, you get a license, you don't own the game. PS4, you buy the disc you own the game: do with it as you wish (they said that explicitly, no guess work).

PS4 is the superior console this cycle without question. Technology, price point, and potential. The PS3 did everything, the PS4 managed to do more than everything.

All right, so i have been a huge fan of xbox in the past, and as i see the conversation, a lot of the argument for ps4 is due to the coverage directly from the media- which is arguably biased. However, i have watched both of the press conferences, and I found a few things.

1. To actually play multiplayer on PSN, you MUST have Playstation Plus- $50/year and it is also inferior to the system that Xbox has going... after all, you pay for quality.

2. I don't get all the complaining about having to sign into online every 24 hours for the Xbox, most people always have their internet on anyway, so this shouldn't be a problem. Xbox put this system in place to make the gaming community better, reducing the chance of hacking, modding, pirating, etc. while you are offline.

3. In my eyes, the Kinect 2.0 is only a benefit. it can be turned off, and makes ease of access to the web, tv, and between games much easier.

4. the price difference doesn't make a large gap, as again i have said, you pay for the quality in a product. the $100 price gap between PS4 and Xbox One isn't so bad when you consider that the online is smoother on Xbox, where they are going to have 300,000 dedicated servers JUST for games, where the online gaming experience on PS4/PS3 has been slow and inconvenient. (i have owned a PS3 in the past) And chances are that if your going to buy a console in the first place, you are going to have at least 500-600 dollars or other currancy if you live in another country than the United States.

5. Whether or not you should buy a PS4/ Xbox One due to games is your decision. Your play style and preference is different that another person's. If you like Forza, and racing games, you may be more geared towards Xbox. If you don't like Minecraft or you like the indie games on the PS4 better, then go for PS4. however, if you like to get DLC's faster, then you may want to go in the direction of Xbox, who commonly gets them before any other platform. In addition to this, the quality of the exclusives may draw you one way or another. Many games will be released, and the majority of them will be cross-platform. However, the exclusives will be the decision point. PS4 will have more exclusives that the Xbox One. If you look at the line up on either side, it's up to you to decide which has more exclusives that YOU will actually play; not what other people will play, and you also have to take QUALITY over QUANTITY.

6. Now let's look at the specs on either console. Fans of the PS4 might suggest that the playstation will have better hardware than the Xbox, however, these people may have to take into consideration that as of this point, the Xbox has not released its own specs yet. So the PS4 has yet to win that part of the battle.Even if the PS4 has a GDDR5 ram, and the Xbox has a GDDR 3 ram, the graphics on each console will only be slightly different, some may not even be able to notice the difference, but the difference they will notice is how smooth the transitions will be on the Xbox vs. the PS4, because the GDDR3 is for GPU as well as CPU.

If you remove all of the media hype and look at the situation in more of logistical way, you may not believe that the PS4 is winning anymore.

Sony has set the bar for used games, It has said that it has no intention on putting restrictions of the resale or the lending of games you have purchased. This basically means that unlike greedier microsoft they are allowing you to have control over games you have already purchased and when it reaches their time, allow you to sell them on when done. This also means that you can buy second hand and cheaper games that still entertain. Do you want to have to buy every game for over $40 each?

Microsoft and the XBox One also have always online. This has always proven disastrous in many cases it has been implemented, the new SimCity is an example. It blocked paying people from using their game for weeks while they sorted out the mess this system caused, All for a bit of profit. It was even predicted weeks ahead. With the Xbox one if you don't live in one of the few places with a perfect Internet connection all of the time.. You will even have problems playing single player games.

The price is also considerably cheaper for the new PS4. $100 dollars! That difference is not including the extra price for online play, that the Xbox One will inevitably have. It also does not include the 'restrictions' on second hand or lent games that the Xbox One will have.

To awnser what the Xbox one lacks, asside from freedom and choice for the user, Nothing. The XboxOne has so many features it is likely most of them will not be used or just will not work while the PS4 is an ACTUAL gaming console, for gamers. It has a purpose: to play good, effective games and be fun. Have you ever seen anyone use every tool on that 500 tool swiss army knife? If you want to be able to do some ridiculously obscure things, that will not benefit you, a gamer then buy the XboxOne! If you want to play a good, effective gaming console then buy the PS4!

Microsoft have messed up with this. Sony have beaten them to the mark on every matter the gamer cares about. Its not so much the PS4 being good, its more the Xbox One being terrible to gamers. I know what I will be buying..

PlayStation really stepped up their game this time. The PS4 is cheaper, faster, and more sophisticated than what Xbox One has shown us so far. Its $400 opposed to $500 for the Xbox One. Also another lacking feature on Xbox One is its ability to play offline because you cant even do so. You must at all times have connection to the internet for the Xbox to even work at all.(Really Dumb) PS4 has better features including the ability to play games without having downloaded them, recording game-play in HD which is impossible without an HD-PVR so this is a great new thing, the share button which is for uploading and showing your friends your photos,game-play,videos, and plain old talking to people. They have also designed the new Dualshock 4 controller which is an amazing thing itself. Xbox has done nothing at all to improve the technology in their controllers. Although Xbox has some great titles coming out only available for their system (Halo 5, Forza 5).

I would choose PS4 because its regaining the reputation it had with the PS2. I personally had a PS3 but sold it and i have been using my Xbox 360 which is another great console. PS3 was not a good system because it didn't beat the Xbox 360 technology wise. PlayStation is gonna do well this time with the PS4 though cause it has physically dominated the Xbox One. In my opinion PS4 looks like the best and most reasonable choice

It's basically what the others have said before me. Microsoft is really pushing their customer loyalty. Their console, the xbox one, not only cost more than the ps4 but have inferior practices. I am going off the assumption that you do not know. Please do forgive me if i sound like I'm parroting what the others say.

Alright first thing you should know is that xbox is basically an always on system. Your xbox one will have to check in with Microsoft servers every 24 hours or else the ability to play games will be removed. Not only that, but you are not allowed to lend games to your friends now unless you get permission from the publisher. Heck you can't even sell it unless to a registered store.

Now you probably wondering why this matters. Well besides being an outright inconvience to most people, this also opens up a monopoly for the big game store like gamestop. You know that local game store that's pretty radical about their practices? Yeah, well under that system they will not have any used xbox games at all. Which honestly hurts them.

The reason people are saying ps4 is better is generally cause it doesn't have these features. Not only the but its one hundred dollars cheaper with more games and more focus on letting everyone being able to work with it. Oh also kingdom hearts three is finally coming out for it

the only big thing that the xbox has that's hurting it is the "no used games" BUT........Microsoft has said several times its not the xbox that's stopping you but the publishers of the game. for instance lets take halo and gears of war. the makers of halo can make so it can be shared and resold just like any 360 game. but the makers of gears can make it so when you buy the game you cant loan, resell, trade or anything. but that's unlikely because they'll opt out of making money from the resell of it. just to be clear I used those games as examples. past that all the other "problems" always on, internet connection, and what ever else really isn't a problem at all for the average person as long as you really think about it. also the games for the xbox look a lot better. as for price yes the ps4 is cheaper but you get less. the ps4 is still a good system I will be buying one but I absolutely will be getting the xbox. they BOTH have clear advantages but just like everything with any competition some people will say "this ones better" just get what suits you and youll be happy

I thought the Ps4 is awesome.Only thing i have a hard understanding is when you play a wrestling game. It's the same like the ps3 gameplay. All the gameplay is slow.Unless it's game developer with glitches.I have a sooth play with ps3.Fast & smooth play.I guess i'm not use to playing ps4 games.I had the same experience with a ps2 & ps3.I guess you have to get use to everything til you know how to beat every game.I would consider a ps4 in my opinion.Ps4 has great graphics, gameplay. Also you can share & broadcase your games to anyone you want.I give it an A+ or solid 95 percent.Still a great system.Takes time to play new systems.I would say go for the ps4.

I have both the xbox and the ps3 ... Would say I prefer the xbox controller to the playstation pad but other then that i came into this e3 with an open mind and completely undecided on which I would be getting... The 24h Internet check up thing isn't great but I play online almost everyday and watch Netflix through it so that's not a problem. The trade in and pre owned situation hasn't been explained properly but I'm sure it's not going to be as bad as people ( usually play station fans) say it is... The price is obviously an obstacle , but the £80 constitutes for the the kinect , which seems about right and it . It doesn't always have to be on like you guys say , it can be switched off , and if you are worried about being watched then you have something to hide, to be honest I don't really care... Now both consoles don't look that good , the ps4 from the front looks like the xbox one and has a bit of a ps2 look too which is a step backwards really.. The xbox one is big and bulky and looks like a large wii,, but I say it is bigger in order for it to be able to do a lot more .. I don't care about the tv watching because i do that on my sky box but we will wait and see how the xbox and tv switching works ...playing games without the CDs is great because mines always break , the twitch implementation, video editing and switching between games whilst waiting for a game is incredible.. Sony really messed up the media presentation , the Sony films look **** and the ps3 and ps vita dominated the presentation quite a bot but maybe they will announce more soon but it was pretty disappointing. But what really swung it for me were the games , destiny looked incredible on the ps4 but the rest of the titles looked dead or weren't exclusive .. Ryse , Forza , dead rising, crimson and dragons and sunset overdrive look amazing and right up my street .... Xbox one is the one for me , but that is my unpopular opinion :)

Well Xbox one is making it where you have restrictions on loaning games. "There will also be an option to loan games to friends, with restrictions. You can only loan a game once, and the recipient must appear on your Xbox Live friends list for longer than 30 days.", I'm not sure about the trading games in part. Also xbox one is requiring users to log on once every 24 hours. Finally Xbox one is supposed to be 100$ more on the release date.

just like you i have been loyal to xbox since the original xbox i love halo but microsoft is trying to screw over its loyal customers why put all these stupid restrictions on a game console.up to yesterday i had not even considered buying a ps4 but after their e3 press conference where they announced they were doing the opposite of microsoft i pre orderd me one.though i love halo one exclusive can not keep me around this go round microsoft is forgetting what made them king in the first place having a cheaper better console.

I love Xbox as well but with what they are doing to the gaming industry is a shame and greedy. When an Xbox owner buys a game for their shiny new One console, they’ll be required to install it onto the 500GB hard drive. Once that’s done, the game will be tied to the user’s Xbox Live account, meaning that if they attempt to sell it or lend the disc to a friend, the next user will be prompted to pay an undisclosed fee. Only then will they be able to install the game onto their hard drive and play the game. It's my game I should be able to let my friend or family member play it for free!!! I shouldn't be required to log on to my console every 24 hrs. I shouldn't have my Kinect camera always on and watching my every move as well. I didn't have a problem with paying for online service to play games, I get it. Microsoft is overstepping their boundaries period.

Now see, if you have the 360,you will not get too many cool features in PS4, but many of them.

one vs ps4

1) one doesn't have motion in the normal controller.

2) one costs 100 dollars more, and it has spent money for the tv part of it, it also acts like set-top box

3) ps4 has a touch pad in the controller

4) it also has a speaker in the controller.

5) one doesn't have Free internet connection

Actually, the ps4 doesn't have alot of difference with the ps3

Is just doesn't have the 3rd and 4th point, and was less powerful.

Simple, it's not.

People are mad about Kinect always listening(can be turned off), the extra $100(for quality online service - refer to PSN hacked incident), and the second hand game policy(I won't miss the $2 per title I am getting now when selling it - no loss).

You get what you pay for though. Content wins this war, and one side heavily outweighs the other now, and in the years to come. For those that don't believe this review the outcry from PS3 Skyrim players on DLC. The titles, DLC, XBOX has the heavy handed victory there.

Others answering this aren't even informed. PSN now costs $60 per year to play online. So for all the answers here that say online gaming is free on PS4 you can rule them out automatically as NOT having an informed answer and just fandom.

The mandatory kinect watching you masturbate day and night (you will never masturbate the same way again if you have the xbox one) The idea you cant lend games out to friends anymore. Have to sign in to live everyday or you lose access to the games you pay foocking £49 for.

Dude ps4 wins hands down

For all you PS4 lovers, all of your statements on the Xbox One having to be "always connected' and "spying kinect' if you had done any research like I have done you would of know that these are all rumors.

Here is this to prove you wrong:

Everyone is forgetting what playing video games is all about. THE GAMES!!! In this department, Xbox is KILLING PS4. Microsoft has always made better games than Sony so all the ram and backward compatibility and blu ray and processing power in the world WILL NOT make a better console. It's about the games. Thats why the N64 is still one of the best consoles out to this day. The games. Xbox has better games therefore Xbox wins HANDS DOWN. Not to mention XBL is soooo much better than PSN. There's a reason Microsoft charges to use it and that's because the servers are MUCH more dedicated and WAY smoother. And they don't get hacked like the PSN. Even if PS4 is a better system. That being said, I don't want to have to be connected to the internet just to play a game OR have that kinect camera on.
John
2013-06-11 11:45:00 UTC
Why is the kinect a con for xbox one? It has the option to be turned off if you don't want it always on. The only reason PS4 is cheaper is because xbox one comes bundled WITH Kinect.

I am not biased one way or the other but it annoys me how so many piggy-back on media hype. In my opinion, the PS4 will probably have a better single player experience because of the always on xbox one requirement but for no other reason. The hardware on PS4 is NOT SIGNIFICANTLY better than xbox one as was previously stated in another comment. Its just slightly better and will probably be unnoticeable with most games.

The xbox one will most likely have a better multiplayer experience because of the strong base of xbox live vs the PSN and the unknown contributions of cloud computing. PS4 has its own cloud network on the way but I think it won't be as successful because they are including it as an after thought instead of the initial design as is the case with xbox one.

In terms of the always on policy for xbox one. I've always had internet and I'm always connected so...no change there.

In my opinion, the xbox one is poised for better growth in the years to come. Interactive tv, strides with kinect, voice input, smart glass. At least they are pushing for something new and allowing versatility for the development of new interesting games along the traditional controller based games . I don't see as much of that from playstation aside from vita.

In my opinion, The used game policy is the only major blow to xbox one. To be fair, they are only protecting their interest. If you must be mad at anyone for DRM and any of that crap be mad at those who pirate and force software companies to rely on anti piracy techniques.

Based on what I saw at the E3 press conferences both have a great lineup for games exclusives and otherwise. Naughty Dog is Playstations saving grace. They make amazing games! And all of the exclusives I saw for xbox one look awesome as well. SO LET THE GAMES SWAY YOUR OPINION AND STOP FOLLOWING THE MEDIA HYPE, PLEASE!

My first gaming platform was the Xbox (original). I have been a loyal Microsoft customer even when at times the platform faltered (red ring of death). After seeing Microsoft at E3 walking down the isle hand in hand with EA declaring that it is selling out their consumer body by requiring licensing of used games I felt betrayed. I will not support a company that devalues and alienates its consumers by monopolizing the gaming market and restricting use of games that are purchased and owned by their customers. Do they really think Im going to purchase a game on their platform for the price I'm paying now, only to have it be devalued when I wish to sell it on a later date? No, I'm sorry, their is only so much gouging a person can take before they say "Enough!" PS4, has my loyalty now, I am finished with Microsoft. They can burn for all I care (figuratively speaking of course).

It depends on what type of gamer you are. If you are a casual gamer the PS4 may be more suited to what you want but if plan on playing more than a couple hours a week x box is the way to go.

Used games will be the same with the PS4 and the XB1. There will not be first party fees (from PS4 or XB1) they will however allow the gaming companies (EA Sport, Ubisoft, etc) to charge their own fees.

The Kinect does not always have to be on, I have seen this rumor on a few different forums but it simply not true.

You do not always have to be connected online to play the XB1 you just have to have been online in the past 24 hours. So if your internet goes out you can still play the XB1 as long as you have been online within the past 24 hours. PS4 is ofline compatibale meaning you can never connect online and play the games. This is why I think XB1 is for serious gamers. I have not played a game offline in years, so this is being made to be a big deal but for the serious gamer this is a mute point. I like having updated rosters on sports games and being able to update my first person shooter games to fix glitches and so on.

The last thing I have seen that people are so down about XB1 is that it is $100 more but the XB1 includes the Kinect, PS4 does not include the PSeye, if you buy the eye seperately the prices will be about the same.

The interaction that the XB1 allows with your television, satalite, etc is not even comprable. It is light years ahead of the PS4. So all in all I think that it depends on the type of gamer you are. If you plan on playing video games a lot by yourself and not connecting online then it is an easy decision that the PS4 is for you, However if you are a commited gamer then the PS4 will not be what you are looking for.

XB1 has an estimated 300,000 servers to handle their online gaming.

PS4 has less than 50,000

If you play online you know that is a recipe for disaster.

well, for starters, PS4 is getting many exclusives, despite what altimgaming says, they are getting about 40 exclusives AT LAUNCH, they have uncharted, ratchet and clank, god of war, out last, killzone and a plethora of others, you can stream PS3 games, play offline, pay less, play online FOR FREE, its a stronger console (better hardware). but this is playstation aspects, now the xbox one has the DRM issue with 24 hour checks, no used games (which sony denounced with the PS4), restricted usage and lending, pay to play online, plus its most noteworthy exclusive, Halo, is being ruined by Microsofts greed, becoming annual and a "show." Xbox is destroying itself and its fan base, they are going to have to do some crazy work to fix the damage they've done. Game wise, Playstation is dominating because their exclusives are GOOD.

okay for one the kinect for Xbox is not always one. It is just searching for the two words "xbox on". and the playstation 4's exclusives are half INDIE games! Most people in my community rarely trade games. you also have to pay for psn to play online beause its not free.

i have attended a lot of seminars, read counless books on forex trading and it all cost me thousands of dollars. the worst thing was i blew up my first account. after that i opened another account and the same thing happened again. i started to wonder why i couldn,t make any money in forex trading. at first i thought i knew everything about trading. finally i found that the main problem i have was i did not have the right mental in trading. as we know that psychology has great impact on our trading result. apart from psychology issue, there is another problem that we have to address. they are money management, market analysis, and entry/exit rules. to me money management is important in trading. i opened another account and start to trade profitably after i learnt from my past mistake. i don't trade emotionally anymore.

if you are serious about trading you need to address your weakness and try to fix it. no forex guru can make you Professional trader unless you want to learn from your mistake.
