How much is it for a playstation 3 disk drive/laser repair?

My ps3 disk-drive no longer works & doesn't read disks anymore i think it's the laser but not 100% sure, i want to see how much it costs for a repair but i'm too lazy to call in, for anyone who has had this problem & had it sent in, how much does the repair cost or around how much? (I don't have warranty)

A disc drive repair or replacement usually costs around $100. Sony will charge $100 to look at a pS3 slim and $129 to look at a PS3 fat. If you send your PS3 to Sony they will give you a refurbished unit instead of sending back your original one. That means losing all your data. You should look for another repair service that will give you back your original PS3 and won't format your HDD.
