I currently have a 120GB PS3 Slim I had gotten Sept 2009. For a time before that I remember hearing talk about the PS3 60GB and it being the only system fully backwards compatible. About a year ago I go to comic con and one guy was selling a PS3. I asked him if it was 60GB and when he replied no, I asked if he knew if it was still worth buying one in used condition that would work well, and I think he told me they might have problems nowadays upgrading to new firmwares etc. But I can't remember for sure

Would Purchasing a 60GB be worth it? Would they have any problems upgrading to new firmwares and/or problems playing 2011 and on games/blu-ray discs?

I thought it was worth it to get a 20gb (also backwards compatible), but considering that you have a ps3 already, you should just get a fat ps2. The problem with those is, the disk drive can break easily (I just had to fix mine and it STILL only plays the silver discs). The slim ps2 doesn't play all of the games either, and one of the incompatible games is one of my favorites, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 3. All of the games I have work on the 20gb ps3.It's your decision, but I have provided the facts.

P.S. It upgrades without any problems at all.

If you really want it just for backward compatibility, it's not worth it. Your best bet is to just get a PS2.

The 60GB would work the same as any other PS3, but it' pretty much outdated. Just stick with your Slim and get a PS2.

The PS3 does its job well. The controller's battery lasts about 8 hours on a full charge. Console collects dust easily, Durable system that does not overheat. Yeah, with so many titles and more coming out at this price the PS3's features are worth it. You should buy one!
