Weigh it up my friend

I have a Slim PS3 - 250 GB console

all it needs is an HDMI or Component cable and a 8 cable to power it - the PS3 controllers are bluetooth - and the two USB ports support hundreds of different PC controller types inc SATURN USB - HOTAS FLIGHT STICKS - as well as bluetooth keyboards and mice etc

it's G wireless compatible (54 mbps) and has an ethernet port and an optical digital audio port

Playstation Network has an entirely FREE online gaming community

- - - - - - - - -

Slim 360 - 250 GB console

powered by another "brick" with internal fans and uses either HDMI or component cables

N wireless (300 mbps) or Ethernet for Internet

unaware of it's compatability with PC USB or bluetooth controllers - the older one certainly wasn't

Xbox LIVE gold membership for one month - after which you will pay a fee to keep the same level of online gaming priviledges

they are both awesome machines - but i reckon the PS3 might just nudge it since it's also a BLURAY PLAYER

well you but it in the playstation section so you get ps3 biased answers. it would get 360 biased answers on the xbox section.

This is what you do. You get a quater.

Heads becomes ps3

Tails becomes 360

flip it whichever it lands then you get it.

If you think thats wrong your basically saying george washington is wrong and thats just unamerican.

so ask yourself are you Unamerican. are you. punk.jk

Get the PS3 this should help and it should convince you trust me you would be very unwise getting the 360 instead of the PS3.

PS3 is far better than 360 and that is not just personal opinion PS3 is better and that is a fact.

PS3 has blu-ray and an excellent blu-ray player at that.

360 has no blu-ray

PS3 has the same on-line features as 360 and more like Playstation Home a social networking service especially designed for the PS3 where you can walk around lots of different locations chat to people and play lots of fun games against them and all of this is totally free.

360 you have to pay a pathetic $50 dollars a year to do stuff you get on the PS3 for free.

PS3 has far better exclusives than the 360 with a far wider variety than just FPS, 360 has lots of halo games and gears of war 1 and 2 and a few more games, PS3 has these:

God of war 3

Uncharted drakes fortune

Uncharted 2 among thieves

Resistance fall of man

Resistance 2

Infamous

Killzone 2

Lair

Buzz games

Singstar games

Metal gear solid 4 guns of the patriots

Tekken 6

Gran turismo

Motorstorm

Motorstorm Pacific rift

Little big planet

As you can see PS3 has a far wider variety of different games for all sorts of gamers not just for FPS fans.

PS3 has 2-5% failure rating 360 has an awful 25% and higher failure rating

PS3 has used about 70% of its graphics capabilities where 360 has already used 98% God of war 3 which has got the best graphics of any PS3 game it has better graphics than any 360 game could ever achieve and the PS3 still has the capabilities of improving these graphics by at least 15%.

Well if you go with the PS3:

-PSN is free.

-Better exclusives (opinion)

-No red ring of death

And for the XBox:

-XBox live is NOT free.

-And I guess there's Halo.

So......

if you like WAR games then go with xbox360 and if you like RACING and FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER games then go with

PS3 slim......other categories are same in both consoles i.e. sports, strategy etc.

ps3 has a 8 core cell processor which is double as powerful as of xbox360 which has 3 core.

it affects future gaming experience.........i recommend you to go with PS3 slim

It's probably going to be half and half here, and you probably need to come up with your own idea of which console is better.

I suggest you make a list of games you want for 360 that are only on 360. Then, if you want any multiplatform games, then see which ones run better on 360. For instance, I've heard that Bayonetta, Fallout 3, and The Orange Box all run much better on 360. So make a list of the games you want on it.

Then, do the same for the PS3.

Then, look at features. Xbox 360's Live service is more dependable and less laggy than the PS3's (that's true, no matter what fanboys tell you.) That's why it costs money. If online gaming is important to you, and you've got the money to get LIVE, I'd suggest it. If you've never played online, be wary of it. I've got LIVE, and barely ever bother to connect because of all the idiot 12-16 year olds that yell the most immature nonsense into the mic because they think it's hilarious and everyone wants to hear it. I didn't want to hear it then, and I don't want to hear it now, which is why I've become a single player oriented gamer.

Oh, and on 360, you can play music while gaming on nearly every game.

SO, just pick out which one you want based on games and features.

I've got both so I dont need to be a stupid biased fanboy.

I would ask firstly how important BluRay is. If you want BluRay then obvoiusly 100% get the PS3.

For the online experience I would say Xbox is slightly better. You have to pay for it but its an overall better experience.

If that's not enough to decide then look at games. For the multi-platform games there's nothing to chose between them. Some are better on Xbox (Dirt) and some are better on PS3 (Dragonage). So it comes down to the exclusives. Here's some examples....

Xbox: Halo, Gears of War, Fable

PS3: Gran Turismo, Uncharted, Heavy Rain

(Metal Gear Solid and Mass Effect used to be exlcusives but not anymore!)

So that's it really. If anything I slightly prefer the Xbox and have more games on that. The last two multiplatform games I bought though one was for PS3 (Fifa 11) and one was Xbox (Fallout New Vegas). Even so I absolutely HAD to have a PS3 as Gran Turismo 5 is going to be too good to miss.

I know it's a hard choice but look at bluray, then online (pay or not) then the exclusive titles to make your decision.

*** edit ***

By the way Karun does not have a clue what he's talking about when he said "ps3 has a 8 core cell processor which is double as powerful as of xbox360 which has 3 core."

Typical fanboy crap I'm used to seeing being spouted as fact.

THIS is FACT:-

PS3:

The "Cell" has 1 x Power Processing Element (PPE) consisting of 8 x Synergistic Processing Elements (SPE) ***only 6 are available to developers as 1 is reserved for the OS and 1 is disabled for chip yeild reasons***

NOT 8!

360:

Is a 3 core CPU. Each core is a modified version of the "Cell" PPE (yes, really) and each core can run 2 Symmetric Hardware Threads. ***6 hardware threads are available to games***

Both are also 3.2GHz IIRC

As of right now PS3 is a quieter, more reliable system, that cost more at first, but is lacking some of the great 360 only games and online user community. But due to it reliability and complexity will last longer and save you money in the long haul.

PS3 Advantages:

-Free online

-Better graphics (Once again slightly noticable)

-Blue-Ray player

-No system hardware problems known to date

-Has a web browser ( can use Youtube, myspace, and etc.)

-Free built in wifi

-The PS3 is Silent!

-Chargeable controller

-Great tech support (better the microsofts)

-Can install games to HD

-can listen to music in game

-Ps3 will last longer (due to it complex cell processor)

-More games coming out in future for the console

Best price you can find for the PS3 (remember to check out the Move Bundle as well):

PlayStation 3 is not only a video game console, but also designed to be a digital entertainment device or home-entertainment computer. It features in its special CPU called the Cell Processor, which can be updated for different performance needs! Besides, it incoporates marvelous memory capabilities which enable you to play games and watch movies at the same time. With PS3, you may enjoy a luxurious visual-dinner for its support of high-definition. Another benefit is that does not require to pay "double fees" to play online games and download videos.

What else can the PS3 do? Can Upgrade your hard drive and Import games from other countries.

Here is a very good comment from an actual player of PS3:
